The Kerry Writers' Museum is housed in a wonderfully restored 19th Century Georgian Residence in the heart of the Town.

Brought to life by costumed characters and audio visual aids, you will be taken on a stimulating journey of discovery through the song and stories of our renowned Kerry Writers. Immerse yourself in the words of John B. Keane ('The Field'), Bryan MacMahon, Brendan Kennelly, Maurice Walsh ('The Quiet Man') and George Fitzmaurice.

Filled with an abundance of rich characters, humour, romance and tragedy drawn from the towns and villages of North Kerry, the works of the writers will make you laugh and cry, but, above all, you will come away from your visit to Seanchai - Kerry Writers Museum with a sense of the people and places that shaped Kerry's literary genius.

New in 2014

Our new exhibition on Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann charts the extraordinary journey of this hugely popular traditional music festival, from its humble beginning in 1951 to the phenomenon it has become today, ranking as one of the biggest festivals of its kind in the world.

Using text and images, 'An Sceal Go Dti Seo' will take you on a journey through the decades of the Festival and is accompanied by a 20 minute film that captures the excitement and energy of the Fleadh.
